This course will take you on a quick journey through entrepreneurship. The goal is to provide you with a good understanding of what entrepreneurship entails, the entrepreneurial mindset, recognize thought leaders in the field of entrepreneurship, and have a practice run through to create your own new venture. We will jump into the world of entrepreneurship with a focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create a minimum viable product (MVP). You will explore the fundamentals of entrepreneurial thinking, learn practical AI applications, and gain insights into developing an MVP that effectively meets market needs.The course outline is below:

About Heidi Dent, DBA

Heidi’s professional background has focused on marketing, entrepreneurship, and data-driven strategy for over 30 years. She has worked with a variety of industries from the Fortune 50 to Silicon Valley and small business start-ups. A serial entrepreneur, she has been involved in start-ups, acquisitions, and successful exits, landed on the INC5000 list 5 years in a row, and was awarded the “Best Places To Work in NC.” Heidi was involved in several successful acquisitions that were integrated into her company’s product portfolio. She led the design and UX for her companies and clients including a proprietary internal operations application, multiple mobile applications, a multi-application web platform, eCommerce, communication, ATS, project management applications, and even this learning management application. Heidi is currently an Adjunct Professor of Marketing at Western Carolina University. Prior to transitioning to part-time, she taught Digital Marketing, Principles of Marketing, Marketing Technology, and Branding as an Assistant Professor of Marketing. She is also a guest entrepreneurship lecturer for the University of Applied Sciences – München. Previously, Heidi was an Adjunct Professor for Christian Brothers University teaching Marketing and Entrepreneurship, and South Georgia State College teaching Business Communication. Heidi holds a BA in English from Mercer University, an MBA from UNC Pembroke, an MSM in Digital Marketing at Florida International University, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Jacksonville University.  Her research interests include entrepreneurial marketing, AI, social data intelligence, and decision making. Outside of academia, Heidi works with businesses to utilize data for strategic decision-making. She likes to travel, spend time with her husband, kids, and a menagerie of animals, hike, read and build websites for fun.
